The Fens are a unique area of Britain, however this vast area of waterways with a rich history is an enigma to most of us, and only a hand full of anglers can truly say they have understood the fens and the excellent fishing it has to offer.

Throughout the 60's and 70's it became a mecca for pike anglers from around the country and was featured in many angling books of the time notably 'Fishing for big Pike' Webb & Rickards

The Romans were the first to systematically attempt the drainage of the fens and work has carried on throughout the centurys, because of this, the very nature of Fens have changed remarkably over the last thousand years. Towns such a Wisbech which has it origins possibly as a Roman fort once used to sit at the mouth of the Well Stream that emptied into the Wash. The Well Stream carried the untied waters of the River Nene and the River Ouse. Now Wisbech stands 10 miles from the sea.

Mark and Denis have just launched their book 'Fenland Pike' which will be available on the night, their talk will provide an in site to the history of the Fens and their informative and sometimes lighthearted  experiences of fishing in this challenging environment.

There will be a bar provided & and a fund raising raffle.

also take the opportunity to get your book signed on the night.
